Rabbit Cookbook
a practical rabbit-meat cookbook with stories, recipe images, full recipes, and preparation notes
$25.00
Rabbit meat is one of the most overlooked meats on the American table. It is lean, clean-tasting, mild, and useful in many of the same meals where families normally use chicken. For a homestead, rabbit is practical because it turns feed into meat efficiently, fits small acreage, and produces a versatile protein that can be roasted, fried, stewed, smoked, grilled, shredded, or ground.
This cookbook is built for real kitchens, not show kitchens. The goal is to help families take rabbit from freezer to table without wasting time, money, or meat. The recipes are divided into two practical categories:
1. Easy — simple recipes with common ingredients, low risk, and straightforward cooking steps.
2. A Little Harder — recipes with more prep, longer cook times, special techniques, or layered flavors.
Rabbit is naturally lean, so the main cooking rule is simple: do not dry it out. Use moisture, fat, marinades, broth, bacon, butter, oil, sauce, or low-and-slow cooking methods when needed. Legs and shoulders do best with braising, stewing, pressure cooking, or slow cooking. Loins and tender pieces cook faster and need more care.
